The Utah Medical Orchestra is open to all orchestral musicians in the healthcare community. We hold biannual concerts in the spring and fall and rehearse for approximately 10 weeks prior to each concert. Rehearsals are typically held on Tuesday evenings at the Health Sciences Education Building on the University of Utah campus.

 

Because of the uniquely demanding schedules of our musicians, we understand and expect that you may have conflicts with rehearsals. We do not have a minimum attendance requirement (except for the requirement of a few specific rehearsals if you’d like to perform in the concert), but we hope you will aim to join us for 2/3 of rehearsals if you plan to perform. We welcome all skill levels, but music will be chosen to accommodate the mean skill level of the group, which is typically intermediate/late-intermediate. Auditions are not required for string instruments but are required for new winds and brass. Auditions will be held the week or two prior to the first fall rehearsal. We will send out details and excerpts to those who express interest via the form.
